HERDSIRE or SIRE: An alpaca’s father, or a male alpaca with genetic characteristics desirable for breeding. HUACAYA: A type of alpaca with fine fiber that gives a wooly appearance. PET MALE: A male alpaca whose genetic characteristics are not of breeding quality. SURI: A type of alpaca with tightly wound fiber which appears like pencil locks.
